CHANCEL CHOIR

choir membersSharing your talent in our church music program is a wonderful stewardship, is enjoyable, and is often fun. While challenging, our music is accessible to anyone who loves to sing and is willing to work with us toward a beautiful expression of praise. Please consider joining our adult choir. (High School students are also welcome.) We rehearse on Thursdays evenings. Rehearsals begin at 7:30 pm, but we'll welcome you whenever you can get there. Child care is offered beginning at 9:00 am each Sunday, so those of you with children can join us. New members are always welcome!

For information about our choral opportunities for children, please visit our Children & Youth page.

FAMILY CARE GROUPS

The Family Care Groups of Stanley Church have launched a major effort to coordinate with and supplement other activities of Stanley as we try to keep in loving touch with each other. We’re going to live out the challenge for us to take care of each other, physically and spiritually i.e., minister to each other.

Twelve care groups of approximately 10 members each have been formed, with facilitators trained to help members get to know each other and experience the real warmth of Christian caring and love. Some groups will meet, others may not. Some will call each other, others will be called by the facilitator. Some may have discussion meetings or meals; others will meet at coffee hour or go to a movie together. Each group will find what it is effective and comfortable for its members. Everyone will be contacted.

The facilitators know who wheir members are. We hope that everyone will be contacted by a facilitator this month at least once. We expect to continue these activities throughout the year. These groups will also assist in the fall stewardship campaign, which was so successful last fall. We’re hoping to build on that success to make Stanley Church strong and faithful to its vocation in our lives and in the community.

KOINONIA

Koinonia is a social group for adults that meets several times a year in members' homes for a pot-luck dinner and conversation. Open to all! Our next gathering will take place soon. Watch for details! Call the Church Office at 973-635-7723 for more information.

PRAYER GROUP

"We will pray for and with each other." - from the Stanley Church Covenant

The Stanley Prayer Group meets Wednesdays at 3:30 pm in the Chapel. Please join us for conversations with God and one another.

The Stanley Prayer Group has prepared a booklet of thoughts for Lent, entitled “From Ordinary Soil.” Copies are available in the Narthex and outside of the Parish Hall.

STITCHERS 'N' KNITTERSStitchers 'n' Knitters

Stitchers 'n' Knitters is a group that meets at 9:30 am on Tuesday mornings for knitting, needlework and conversation. We welcome new members on any Tuesday morning. There are no "rules" -- come whenever you can make it, there's no homework if you don't want any, and the fellowship is wonderful!

For many years the Stitchers and Knitters have been knitting lap robes and seamen's scarves and hats. This year they have taken on an additional project -- PROJECT LINUS. Project Linus is a network of caring people who donate their time and talent by providing handmade blankets to children facing medically or emotionally stressful times. The local Project Linus chapter donates blankets to area hospitals and agencies. To learn more about Project Linus, visit their website: www.projectlinus.org

If you are unable to attend on Tuesdays, but would like to help, you may donate blankets from home. Handmade blankets in child-friendly colors may be knitted, crocheted, or quilted. (Blankets must be washable and durable.) If you consider yourself challenged by the thought of knitting, crocheting or quilting a blanket, but would still like to help, the Stitchers and Knitters will gladly accept donations of yarn for the project.

For more information, contact the Church Office at 973-635-7723, or stop in on a Tuesday at 9:30 am.
